• The Yankees made their first two big moves of the offseason on Friday. First they acquired shortstop Didi Gregorius from the Diamondbacks in a three-team trade that sent Shane Greene to the Tigers. Next, they signed lefty relief ace Andrew Miller to a four-year contract worth $36M. Brian Cashman said the club could still re-sign David Robertson.
• Prior to Tuesday’s midnight tender deadline, the Yankees re-signed Esmil Rogers to a one-year contract worth $1.48M. Only $750k is guaranteed. The team non-tendered lefty David Huff, righty Jose Campos, and outfielder Slade Heathcott.
• Although they have yet to hire a hitting coach, the Yankees are planning to name Marcus Thames their assistant hitting coach. Willie Randolph interviewed for the first base coaching job. Minor league hitting coordinator James Rowson and minor league fielding coordinator Jody Reed are considered the favorite for the hitting and first base coach positions, respectively.
• Injury Updates: CC Sabathia (knee) said he has “no complaints” and has been doing mostly low-impact cardio work. Martin Prado (appendectomy) resumed baseball workouts on October 20th and has been taking ground balls all over the infield.
• Chase Headley reportedly has a four-year, $65M offer in hand from an unknown team. The Yankees haven’t shown much interest in Jed Lowrie or Asdrubal Cabrera, even before the Gregorius trade. They’ve spoken to the Marlins and Braves about trades for bullpen help.
• The Yankees signed C Juan Graterol to a minor league contract for depth.
